Job Purpose
Provide technical leadership, foresight, and professional IT advice to meet business requirements and guide strategic and operational decision-making for senior management. The Platform IT Head will strategize, implement, and communicate IT strategy, infrastructure requirements, operational plans, policies, procedures, systems, and tools, ensuring these are tailored to meet the needs across all organizational levels. He/she will be responsible for creating and maintaining an IT strategy aligned with stakeholder needs and current best practices in infrastructure development. Additionally, ensuring personalized assistance to users and safeguarding the security of the organization’s information systems and data at all levels are key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, foresight, and senior management-level IT advice to meet business needs and guide decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and communicate IT strategies, operational plans, policies, procedures, systems, and tools tailored to the organization’s needs.
- Create and maintain IT strategies aligned with stakeholder requirements and current infrastructure best practices.
- Define project requirements, including scope, milestones, phases, and control project schedules.
- Ensure personalized user support and the security of all information systems and critical business data.
- Develop and implement cost-effective, next-generation digital IT solutions for the organization.
- Supervise daily IT operations to ensure business continuity.
- Prepare, manage, and track the IT annual budget.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise IT staff.
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure service levels within budget.
- Develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and implement measures to safeguard business operations during major IT incidents.
- Collaborate with business leaders to determine IT system requirements.
- Develop and enforce IT policies on networks, security, data centers, compliance, asset management, and access control.
- Maintain high standards of security and data protection, staying updated with relevant legislation and regulations, and ensuring team understanding.
- Publish periodic IT status reports covering project activities, milestones, shortfalls, risks, and dependencies.
- Ensure IT systems effectively support business operations and meet operational requirements.
- Participate in system design, scope, scheduling, and implementation strategies.
- Implement SAP and digital landscape solutions as per business needs, including module rollout and system analysis for improvements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience managing large IT teams and infrastructure in the Metal and Mining industry, with measurable improvements in service delivery within budget constraints.
- Hands-on knowledge of IT network architecture, including VSAT, satellite data, telephony, passive distribution, server management, information security, and data center management.
- Successful project management experience with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explore and evaluate emerging technologies and digital strategies for user experience and automation.
- Experience in managing technical requirements, tendering, contract negotiations, and supplier relationships.
- Development and implementation experience of IT policy frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills; proficiency in French is an advantage.
- Educational background: Master’s in Computer Applications, B.Tech, B.E., or equivalent; an MBA is an advantage.
- 10-15+ years of professional experience managing IT systems, preferably in the Metal & Mining industry.
