Senior AI/ML Engineer (Payor Focus):

We are seeking an expert Senior AI/ML Engineer (Payor Focus) with a strong healthcare or insurance background to design, build, and deploy end-to-end machine-learning models and data pipelines that support claims automation, underwriting, and clinical analytics at Pure Health. You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product owners to deliver robust, scalable, and secure AI solutions; apply best-practice MLOps to monitor performance, manage drift, and uphold regulatory and security standards; and, when required, integrate third-party AI products or services by working with external vendors. Your deep technical expertise will translate complex analytics into actionable insights that improve healthcare delivery and streamline insurance operationswithout any direct people-management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Oversight Lead the end-to-end AI lifecycle: data collection, preprocessing, model development, deployment, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable AI architectures and workflows tailored to healthcare and insurance requirements.
  • Oversee compliance with regulations and data security protocols, ensuring safe and responsible use of patient and insurance data.
  • Vendor Management Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with third-party AI solution vendors when applicable.
  • Oversee successful integration of vendor solutions into existing systems and workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with product managers, clinical specialists, underwriters, and other stakeholders to identify AI-driven improvements in patient care, insurance claims processing, and risk assessment.
  • Communicate technical concepts, milestones, and project outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work closely with legal, compliance, and security teams to ensure adherence to healthcare/insurance regulatory standards.
  • Innovation & Research Stay informed on cutting-edge research in AI, especially as it applies to healthcare and insurance (e.g., predictive analytics, fraud detection, patient segmentation).
  • Drive innovation by encouraging the team to experiment with new models and methodologies, promoting a forward-thinking approach.
  • Implement best practices for deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AI models in production, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, version control, and model governance to maintain quality and traceability.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively address bottlenecks, optimizing infrastructure for scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Operational Excellence (MLOps)

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning or data science, with a strong portfolio of successful AI projects.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role, leading multi-disciplinary AI teams.
  • Proven track record in the healthcare or insurance sector is highly preferred (e.g., experience with claims processing, patient data, risk modeling).

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++.
  • Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing tools and databases (SQL, NoSQL, Spark).

Leadership & Communication:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, motivate, and develop technical teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effectively collaborating with non-technical stakeholders in healthcare and insurance.
  • Demonstrated capability in project management to deliver AI solutions on time, on budget, and with measurable business impact.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships is a plus.
  • Experience with claim adjudication, healthcare analytics platforms, or fraud detection systems.
  • Background in NLP, computer vision, or other specialized AI disciplines relevant to healthcare applications.
