Job Title: Senior Instrumentation Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in Dubai, UAE, to support the design of a large-scale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly in detailed engineering, system design, integration, and installation of instrumentation systems critical to the operation of oil and gas facilities. The Senior Instrumentation Engineer will ensure all instrumentation systems are designed, installed, and tested in line with project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering of instrumentation systems, including process control systems, safety instrumented systems (SIS), measurement, and control instrumentation for oil and gas facilities.
- Develop and review detailed engineering documentation such as datasheets, control system designs, P&IDs, instrumentation layouts, and specifications.
- Perform instrumentation sizing, specification, and selection, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g., ISA, IEC, API, ANSI).
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation systems into the overall project design.
- Support procurement processes for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring specifications meet project requirements and schedules.
- Review and approve vendor documentation, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and startup to ensure instrumentation systems meet performance criteria.
- Oversee calibration and testing of instrumentation systems to verify functionality and performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and SIS design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation-related technical issues during project execution and operations.
- Contribute to maintenance strategies for long-term reliability and performance of instrumentation systems.
- Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and project teams on instrumentation system design, installation, and operation.
- Design instrumentation systems for reliability, scalability, and future upgrades, aligning with best practices and innovative solutions.
- Maintain effective communication with project management and stakeholders, providing regular reports and updates.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10-15 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil and gas industry, focusing on onshore projects.
- Extensive experience in detailed engineering design, control systems, safety systems, and measurement instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation standards and codes such as ISA, IEC, API, and ANSI.
- Proficiency in instrumentation design software (AutoCAD, SmartPlant, or similar) and control system design tools.
- Hands-on experience in calibration, testing, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems.
- Strong experience with control systems, DCS, and PLCs.
- Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and across disciplines.
- Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety standards.
- Experience working in the Middle East, particularly in onshore oil and gas projects, is highly desirable.
