Reporting to : Director of Schools Internal

Roles and Responsibilities :

As a key member of the Liwa Education team :

  • Support the Liwa Education vision and high aspirations with a relentless focus on students’ achievement and personal development.
  • Contribute fully to the evaluation of the schools’ strengths and weaknesses and use the findings to promote improvement.
  • Use performance data to support, monitor, evaluate, and improve student performance in the subject.
  • Work within the schools financial management plan to help the school to achieve its educational priorities.
  • Engage with parents as necessary to support pupils and improve outcomes.

As a leader, expert and champion of their subject :

  • Assume responsibility for the planning, delivery, assessment and support for their subject across all schools and grades.
  • Ensure the subject curriculum is of high quality, of sufficient breadth and depth, relevant to the needs of all students and meets international and national standards.
  • Ensure that the subject and core competences contained in the Curriculum Manual are regularly reviewed and updated and represent an appropriate learning journey for all students
  • Ensure the Scope and Sequence documents are accurate, updated for each term on a cyclical basis and include relevant links outside the core subject competencies (for example : National Identity)
  • Liaise with all staff involved in leadership and delivery roles to ensure the subject curriculum is being planned, delivered, assessed and supported to meet international standards
  • Ensure subject assessment tools and associated procedures and rubrics are valid, reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Ensure assessment reporting to students, parents and school leaders is accurate, honest and a true reflection of students’ ability
  • Produce relevant subject reports which clearly detail students’ learning and progress and their attainment levels as measured against national and international benchmarks
  • Design and implement a regularly updated annual plan for the subject which clearly details subject strengths and weaknesses and an analysis of student performance in internal, national and international assessments.
  • Liaise with the schools’ Assessment Coordinators to ensure all assessments are conducted according to the Liwa policies and protocols, particularly in terms of assessment integrity and security.
  • Work collaboratively within the Team to ensure all centrally produced assessments are valid, reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Provide appropriate subject expertise to Liwa Education, school staff as and when required.

Any other duties appropriate to the role as directed by the Director of Schools.

Key Performance Indicators :

  • The quality, range and relevance of the subject curriculum delivered across the schools and grades
  • The quality, range and relevance of the subject extra – curricula activities delivered and taken-up across the schools and grades
  • The % of students reaching international standards in their subject
  • The % of individual students and cohorts achieving their agreed curriculum targets Qualification and Experience :
  • Minimum Academic Qualification

Bachelor Degree or higher in the relevant subject area

ADEK recognized professional teaching qualification

  • Experience

Minimum 5 years teaching experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership capacity in the relevant subject area

Minimum 3 years’ experience in curriculum design and review ∙

Minimum 3 years’ experience in assessment design and reporting

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly data presentation and analysis and report writing as well as other technical tools, programs and platforms
