Job description

  • Cigna Insurance Middle East, a leading health insurer, is looking to appoint a Lead Underwriter focused on Large Corporate Accounts, to join the underwriting team based in Dubai.
  • The lead underwriter is expected to collaborate with commercial teams to ensure profitable growth of the Middle East portfolio.
  • Day-to-day responsibilities will include new business quotes, renewal of existing clients, and contributing towards broader strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, modify and price benefits for large corporate new business and renewal quotations in compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Conduct analytical reviews to identify and understand trends, risks and experience to successfully manage portfolio.
  • Build effective relationships with sales and client management partners to win and retain business
  • Support the broader underwriting team to balance the workload.
  • Identify possible areas of improvement in the Large Corporate underwriting workflow.
  • Collaborate with underwriters in the other offices on regional opportunities.
  • Manage portfolio of accounts by balancing profitability and revenue
  • Provide concise, clear and decisive instructions on risk exposure

Target Profile and Capabilities

  • At least 6 years of experience in health insurance underwriting, with at least 2 years of experience in the Middle East.
  • Good knowledge of the Middle East health insurance market.
  • Bachelor s degree in finance, mathematics, engineering, actuarial science or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with database or data visualization tools such as MS Access, SQL, Tableau or Power BI will be an advantage.
  • Be self-motivated and results driven.
  • Good communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written English.
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and balance conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of own tasks and manage time effectively.
