Position - VRF / VHS Technician


Job Summary:


The VRF/VHS Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) and Variable Heat System (VHS) air conditioning systems. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient performance of advanced HVAC systems across the facility, supporting occupant comfort and energy efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Install, commission, maintain, and repair VRF/VHS air conditioning systems (e.g., Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, etc.).
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance, including filter cleaning, refrigerant checks, and system calibrations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in VRF/VHS systems such as refrigerant leaks, communication faults, or control issues.
  • Monitor and adjust system performance via central and local controllers or Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Ensure correct operation of indoor and outdoor units, fan coil units, branch selector boxes, and electronic expansion valves.
  • Recover, recharge, and handle refrigerants in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, issues found, and corrective actions taken.
  • Collaborate with other MEP technicians during system integration or cross-disciplinary tasks.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Support installation and testing during new projects or retrofits.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or ITI in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience with VRF/VHS systems in a facility management or HVAC service environment.
  • Technical knowledge of various VRF brands (e.g., Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi, Samsung).
  • Familiarity with electronic control systems, sensors, and diagnostic tools.
  • Certification in refrigerant handling (e.g., F-Gas, EPA) preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

  • Work involves standing, lifting, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • May require shift work, on-call duties, or emergency repairs.
  • Exposure to HVAC-related chemicals and mechanical/electrical components.
