The School Counselor and Wellbeing Lead will play a key role in supporting student mental health, behavior, and social-emotional development, while also leading the school s wellbeing strategy and initiatives. This role involves direct student support, coordination of whole-school wellbeing programs, and collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a safeguarding lead/liaison as per school policy and KHDA guidelines.
• Provide individual and group counseling to support students emotional, social, behavioral, and academic development.
• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive whole-school wellbeing program, aligned with KHDA standards.
• Monitor student welfare and maintain up-to-date documentation and confidential records.
• Collaborate with teachers and SLT to develop and monitor intervention plans for students requiring additional support.
• Promote a positive and inclusive school climate through anti-bullying campaigns, emotional literacy sessions, and wellness initiatives.
• Support the implementation of the school s behavior policy and provide training to staff on behavior management and student care.
• Conduct workshops and awareness sessions for students, parents, and staff on topics related to mental health, resilience, and digital well-being.
• Oversee the collection and analysis of wellbeing data (including KHDA Wellbeing Census insights) to inform strategy and planning.
• Liaise with external professionals and agencies where necessary to support student needs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master s preferred).
• Recognized certification or license in Counseling or School Psychology.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in school counseling and wellbeing leadership.
• Strong understanding of child development, mental health support, and proactive wellbeing frameworks.
• Familiarity with KHDA Wellbeing Framework, safeguarding protocols, and inclusion strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to lead initiatives, proactively collaborate with teams, and engage effectively with parents and external stakeholders.
