The role holder is responsible for developing and designing a world-class Accounts Receivables function that can efficiently scale with DHAM's overall growth. The role involves ensuring efficient and timely management of all receivables, billings, invoicing cycles, revenue recognition, and reconciliation of customer accounts in line with IFRS guidelines and internal policies.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Support the Director – Finance Operations in developing and establishing the strategy for the Accounts Receivables function in consultation with the CFO and Executive Director, aligning with DHAM’s overall financial strategy.
- Assist in developing long-term financial practices, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing of receivables and billings across DHAM's business units (Retail, Residential, Commercial, Industrial).
- Oversee daily activities and strategic direction of the department, including automation and process streamlining initiatives.
Accounts Receivables / Billing Management / Revenue Recognition
- Develop billing instructions, guidelines, and procedures to ensure error-free invoicing and operational efficiency. Implement quality assurance measures.
- Review supporting documents, approve invoices, and ensure timely dispatch to customers.
- Approve customer final settlements in coordination with leasing and relevant departments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor and ensure accurate invoicing of leases, cost recovery, and service invoices, supported by adequate approvals as per company DOA.
- Oversee monthly/quarterly/yearly closing of A/R accounts in line with IFRS.
- Ensure regular reconciliation of DHAM’s accounts receivable sub-ledger with general ledger, maintaining relevant documentation.
- Manage revenue recognition in compliance with IFRS, considering different portfolios such as Residential, Retail, Industrial, Commercial, and Land leases.
- Maintain accurate accounts reflecting DHAM’s financial position and performance.
- Follow month-end processes and procedures as per policies.
- Oversee daily team activities for accurate invoice posting and reconciliation.
- Address customer billing queries and resolve issues.
- Review and approve documents related to cost recoveries, services, and final settlements.
Auditing Support
- Maintain relationships with auditors, support audit processes, and resolve discrepancies.
Continuous Improvement and Systems Support
- Enhance systems, procedures, and policies for process development, data accuracy, and internal controls.
- Implement documentation systems for agreements and contracts for easy retrieval.
- Stay updated on professional developments and technical advancements.
- Support system-related projects, including ERP, Yardi, Salesforce, and other integrated applications.
Relationship Management
- Liaise with departments and partners to clarify policies and procedures.
- Develop customer relationships to resolve payment issues and queries.
- Coordinate with collections for outstanding receivables recovery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration; Master’s preferred.
- Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
Experience:
- 8-10 years in accounting/auditing within a large real estate or retail conglomerate.
- At least 3 years of A/R and billing experience in the Middle East.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and relevant laws.
- Experience with Oracle Financials (R12/Cloud), Hyperion.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical skills, proficiency in MS Excel, and understanding of internal controls.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
