Job description

The role will be primarily office-based with flexibility for remote work. Travel to Iraq on a visiting basis may be required.

The Role

We are seeking a strategy specialist with over 20 years of experience to work on a major transformation and restructuring program in the FMCG sector. The successful candidate will collaborate with team members to review current strategies and business models, conduct benchmarking of similar organizations, perform regional and international market research, analyze competitors, define new strategies, set new objectives, and identify opportunities for turnaround and growth.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Analyze current strategy and business model, including sales targets, market position, and financial prospects.
  2. Conduct benchmarking exercises of similar companies regionally and internationally to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps.
  3. Collaborate with the market research team to analyze available data supporting strategy development.
  4. Work with production consultants to understand future product lines and productivity improvements.
  5. Assist leadership in conceptualizing and drafting strategies for pilots and potential blueprints for other factories.
  6. Coordinate with finance specialists on restructuring and merger possibilities.

Additional Tasks

  1. Stay updated with emerging technologies and consumer behaviors.
  2. Post-pilot, develop an overarching strategic plan for state companies covering current and future factories.
  3. Contribute to business development and digital innovation initiatives.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field (minimum).
  • Master's degree in business administration or strategy (preferable).
  • At least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in developing strategies for business-wide transformation programs.
  • Experience in business development or research.
  • Sector experience in manufacturing and FMCG (preferable).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the Middle East.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong written and oral English skills.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
