Qualifications

Job Description: Function

Provides the project focal point for all engineering design and drafting activities on assigned project(s). Also provides the engineering interface for the project construction, controls, HSE, information, procurement/materials, and quality groups.

Relationships

Project Manager

Reports to the Project Director.

Other Project Senior Managers

Coordinates directly with the Project Administration & Finance Manager, Project Construction Manager, Project Controls Manager, Project HSE Manager, Project Information Manager, Project Procurement / Materials Manager, and Project Quality Manager.

Communicates with Discipline Department Managers regarding staffing requirements and the performance of engineers assigned to the project.

Responsibilities
Operations and Activities

Responsible for directing and monitoring progress for the timely engineering definition of components to be designed, purchased, and installed. Provides accurate planning information to project management and project controls to establish a baseline project plan for execution. Supports engineering staff by providing necessary information for design development. Reports progress and analysis to project management, suggesting needs to achieve project goals. Ensures design reviews are performed to meet or exceed requirements. Demonstrates and teaches good management principles to engineering staff. Considers and implements ideas that improve project cost/risk position. Communicates project principles and key objectives to the engineering team.

Organization

Organizes the engineering staff to execute quality and timely design packages aligned with the construction schedule. Provides necessary engineering interface requirements to meet organizational goals. Assigns, directs, and monitors engineering functions to meet project objectives.

Personnel

Ensures qualified engineering personnel are assigned to all necessary functions. Reviews performance of engineering staff. Provides information and training as needed. Offers feedback to Discipline Department Managers regarding personnel performance. Manages timely release of staff as work completes.

Schedule and Budget

Communicates budget constraints to engineering staff. Reviews actual vs. planned progress and productivity. Provides projections for overruns or underruns based on productivity and scope changes. Reviews and approves technical recommendations related to procurement and critical project areas.

Skills & Experience

Minimum 15 years proven experience in engineering management, preferably offshore. Strong knowledge of offshore oil & gas FEED and detailed design projects, with a mix of greenfield and brownfield experience. Fabrication/construction experience is beneficial. Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards is advantageous. Leadership skills in challenging environments, decision-making ability, management and administrative skills, team collaboration, interpersonal skills, risk and change management, project planning, attention to detail, safety awareness.

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering and professional registration are required.
