Job description

Our client is a reputable and leading shipping company based in Fujairah, U.A.E., with operations in oil and chemical tankers, is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join its Accounts Department. This role is integral to ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within a dynamic maritime environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and process purchase invoices with complete supporting documentation.
  • Accurately record invoices in the accounting system and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Post journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of all accounting records.
  • Manage cash disbursements and reconcile daily cash and bank transactions.
  • Prepare and reconcile supplier and customer statements.
  • Calculate, file, and reconcile VAT reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with operations to reconcile stock reports.
  • Prepare ageing reports and monitor outstanding receivables/payables.
  • Maintain daily bank position reports and manage petty cash transactions.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and assist in cash flow forecasting.
  • Process staff payroll, leave salary, and related employee benefits.
  • Record monthly accruals, depreciation, and financial provisions.
  • Maintain and update KYC documentation for corporate banking relationships.
  • Monitor and maintain records of company and staff loans.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 3 years UAE experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a team-oriented approach.
