We’re hiring an Event Director to lead the strategic planning, execution, and growth of a flagship, high-profile international event in the healthcare sector. This role is suited for a senior event leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, has exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, and brings commercial, operational, and creative vision to large-scale event delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive long-term event strategy aligned with stakeholder expectations and growth objectives.
- Build and maintain a detailed event delivery plan with cross-functional department heads.
- Regularly report on progress, risks, and forecasts to senior management and government partners.
- Monitor industry trends and global developments to adapt strategy and ensure ongoing relevance and impact.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a cross-functional event team, fostering high performance and accountability.
- Define KPIs, training plans, succession strategies, and resource allocation in collaboration with HR.
- Ensure clear communication across departments and with executive leadership.
Stakeholder Engagement :
- Build and nurture strong relationships with government supporters, strategic partners, and advisory boards.
- Lead high-level steering committee engagements to gain input and advocacy.
- Cultivate a personal network across the sector to support event positioning and revenue growth.
- Own full event P&L and revenue targets across exhibition, sponsorship, and delegate streams.
- Develop a commercial sales plan and support teams in proposal development and key account management.
- Expand the event’s international reach through agent networks and new business development.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop a compelling brand, message house, and promotional campaigns.
- Ensure messaging is consistent across all channels and supported by accurate data.
- Drive PR visibility, content-driven marketing, and industry engagement.
- Guide the production team in building high-value, topical content aligned with industry needs.
- Ensure timely launch of conference programmes and speaker acquisition.
- Champion speaker experience and delegate engagement from concept to execution.
Operations & Logistics :
- Work closely with operations on floorplan design, supplier management, signage, and onsite experience.
- Ensure smooth coordination of registration, compliance, and procurement processes.
- Drive efficiency while maintaining a high standard of execution.
- Manage the full event budget, ensuring cost control and accurate forecasting.
- Partner with finance to ensure timely revenue collection and mitigate cancellation risks.
- Deliver accurate financial reporting, highlighting opportunities and potential concerns.
Ideal Candidate Profile :
- Significant leadership experience in international B2B events, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or high-growth sectors.
- 10+ years of experience in international event management, including at least 3 years in a director-level role.
- Proven track record of delivering and scaling large-scale conferences and exhibitions.
- Deep understanding of commercial strategy, marketing alignment, and government / stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated P&L ownership and team management at a senior level.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Flexible, proactive, and results-oriented with the ability to manage complex projects under pressure.
- Industry experience in healthcare, energy, technology, or other high-impact sectors is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and engage with global markets and networks.
