Job description

As the Civil/Structural Engineer I we will be looking to you to implement, plan and design a variety of challenging and rewarding engineering projects. Your work will involve partnering with an engineering team and customers to define the scope and needs of specific projects. You will then translate the needs assessment into strategic project designs that accomplish business goals while adhering to financial budget and timeline guidelines. You will take on design responsibilities, analysis, drafting, design review for compliance and safety adherence, and customer contract requirements. Work may occasionally require some evening and weekend hours.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Define components required for custom projects
• Research and define local design criteria, structural design and calculation
• Design custom components or systems when necessary
• Act as customer s primary technical consultant
• Implement change requests
• Communicate product changes to the customer when necessary
• Schedule engineering drawings and document preparation
• Draft and check all drafting work for projects using AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Solid Works
• Analyze structures, connections, and components using analytic and computational methods
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and assist service team
• Test systems or components
• Write technical documentation for systems or system components as needed
• Create bills of material for each project
• Determine wind speed based on the project location and local codes
• Perform foundation design using L-Pile and Geotech reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be fluent in English (speaking and writing)
• Bachelor s degree in engineering discipline
• 2+ years of experience in project engineering/management
• 4+ years of engineering experience

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in civil, structural, geotechnical or environmental engineering
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other engineers
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with building codes and standards, in particular ASCE, AISC, IBC, ICC, ISO, IEC, etc.
• Experience in the solar industry or wind industry
• 2D AutoCAD and 3D analysis experience
• 3D CAD experience
• Knowledge of SolidWorks
• QGis, ArcGIS or similar suite experience
