Principal Engineer - Ports & Maritime

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Ports and Maritime Engineer to join our Africa & Middle East team. The successful candidate will lead complex international engineering projects, provide technical expertise, and mentor junior engineers. This role requires a deep understanding of port and maritime engineering principles, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will be able to write proposals, lead a team, deliver technical work, and interface with the client technically and commercially.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the design and development of port and maritime infrastructure projects, including terminals, harbors, and coastal structures.
2. Lead multidisciplinary complex projects which also include utilities and buildings.
3. Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence.
4. Conduct feasibility studies, concept designs, and detailed designs for new and existing projects.
5. Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and construction plans.
6. Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
7. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure project requirements are met.
8. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, or a related field.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
3. Minimum of 12 years of experience in ports and maritime engineering, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
4. Strong knowledge of port and coastal engineering principles, including dredging, breakwaters, and quay walls.
5. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
7. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
