As a Senior Design Manager at Gensler, you will have a successful track record of managing all phases of projects and will have overall responsibility for client satisfaction, quality control, and financial performance. You will deploy resources to ensure that the work process flows smoothly and act as the primary liaison between the team and client. What You Will Do
Client Engagement
- Implement client projects through the leadership of project teams.
- Grow business for base building and interior projects within various Practice Areas.
- Prepare project proposals and negotiate contracts and fees.
Leadership
- Provide leadership to the team and client by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule.
- Enable project teams to reach their potential and maintain a positive environment.
- Collaborate with your team with an open-door policy.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
Projects
- Manage projects and client satisfaction by focusing on process, service delivery, documentation, and building client trust.
- Manage scheduling, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with all stakeholders.
- Monitor budgets and profitability targets.
- Oversee billing and fee management in line with company policies.
- Handle accounts receivable, expenses, and productivity projections.
General
- Work closely with other departments and management.
- Maintain professionalism and respect.
- Build external firm image through participation in professional organizations and client contact.
- Participate in office meetings and strategic planning.
- Develop strategies for best practices, client satisfaction, and cross-studio collaboration.
- Focus on global relationship building, recruiting, and service integration.
- Advocate for sustainability commitments and integrate sustainability into projects, defining targets and working towards ESG goals.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
- 15+ years of project management experience in design projects.
- Professional license or certification preferred.
- Experience negotiating scope, fees, and managing project finances.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, and technical aspects of design.
- Experience with project management software, like MS Project, is a plus.
- Accreditations such as LEED, WELL, or similar are preferable.
- Understanding of net zero principles and sustainable design practices.
Your Design Technology Qualifications
- Familiarity with BIM project lifecycle and deliverables.
- Experience with collaboration tools, cloud-based markups, clash detection, and managing BIM teams.
- Skills in Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and real-time rendering processes.
- Understanding of information management tools like Aconex, Asite, or Newforma.
