Job Profile
- Supports the development, coordination, and support of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for ELL students and literacy in Grades 1-5.
- Supports and liaises closely with content teachers.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Schedule and administer WIDA tests in collaboration with the Assistant Director of EAL & Literacy and Assessment Manager.
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of four (4) years of successful EAL and/or Literacy teaching experience; a Master's Degree is preferred.
- Experience with co-planning, co-teaching, and intervention programming.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of ELL students in Grades 1-5.
- Develop ILPs and interventions to improve literacy for supported learners in Grades 1-5.
- Provide thorough and timely reports, data, and information to relevant stakeholders for students on his/her caseload.
- Support the planning, coordinating, developing, and monitoring of ELL support structures in Grades 1-5, including:
- Collaborating with general education teachers to ensure that classroom environments and learning experiences support ELLs.
- Identifying English Language Development objectives for students and monitoring progress.
- Developing and supporting policies and procedures that guide learning toward curriculum goals alongside English Language Development.
- Ensuring curriculum is supported with well-differentiated lesson planning.
- Co-teaching using effective ELL instructional methods and materials.
- Co-planning with teachers to support effective instructional methods and materials.
- Developing and facilitating intervention programs for ELL students.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, ILP meetings, and other relevant meetings.
- Co-planning and delivering training for teaching staff on ELL and literacy strategies.
- Maintaining confidential records on referred students and contacts in accordance with UAE law, MOE/KHDA regulations, GEMS policy, and school procedures.
- Performing other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree with at least four (4) years of successful EAL and/or Literacy teaching experience; Master's Degree preferred.
- Experience with co-planning, co-teaching, and intervention programming.
