Location: Dubai, UAE

Job Title: Data Director

Employment type: Contract 12 month initially, potential for extension.

Job purpose:

Halian are seeking an experienced, senior-level Data expert to join our client a global IT consultancy. This is a unique opportunity to architect and lead data initiatives for major banking clients within the region. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data management and governance within the banking sector, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and shape the data strategy for the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, roadmap, and implementation of data initiatives tailored to the banking industry.
• Work closely with senior client stakeholders, including Chief Data Officers and other high-level decision-makers.
• Manage and deliver complex data programs, providing strategic guidance on data governance, management, and data as a service.
• Define and guide the best practices for data streaming, architecture, and delivery.
• Establish and manage a growing data team to handle customer data needs across the GCC region.
• Engage with multiple customer requirements, ensuring alignment of data strategies with client objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams to integrate resources and drive the successful delivery of data solutions.
• Provide insights and recommendations on data governance and related initiatives across banking clients.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 12+ years of experience in data management and technology.
• Experience in Banking sector.
• Proven experience working in an IT consultancy.
• Extensive hands-on experience in setting up data governance, data management, and data-as-a-service solutions.
• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end data solutions and drive data transformations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and handle multiple client requirements simultaneously.
• Self-driven, highly motivated, and capable of working autonomously in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to manage multiple customer requirements and grow a team as the client base expands.
• Strong technical background with the ability to articulate complex data-related topics to senior stakeholders.
• Experience in driving innovation in data management and governance in banking environments.
• Prior experience with data initiatives in the GCC region would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
