Job description

Job Summary: The Process Assurance / Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves working closely with engineering, safety, and operations teams to establish best practices in process assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement for LODD s autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement process assurance and quality management systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with aerospace and autonomous vehicle standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Conduct process audits, gap analyses, and root cause investigations to identify and mitigate quality risks.
  • Establish and enforce quality control standards for software, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure compliance with safety-critical software development standards (DO-178C) and hardware reliability guidelines (DO-254).
  • Define and track key quality metrics, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement of development and production processes.
  • Implement risk management and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) methodologies to enhance product reliability.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including process validation reports, corrective action plans, and compliance records.
  • Support regulatory audits and certification processes, liaising with external certification bodies and industry regulators.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring best practices in quality assurance and process optimization.
  • Train and mentor teams on quality assurance methodologies, process adherence, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Quality Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in process assurance, quality management, or compliance engineering in the aerospace, defense, or autonomous systems industry.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100), safety-critical software standards (DO-178C), and hardware certification processes (DO-254).
  • Experience with quality control methodologies, process auditing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action (CAPA), and failure mode analysis (FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, JIRA) and quality management systems (QMS).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work across teams and with regulatory bodies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in autonomous vehicle, drone, or aerospace system certification.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with safety assessments and system reliability analysis.
