Job summary

AECOM in Dubai seeks a UAE National with a family book to join our transportation and urban planning team. You will interpret regulations, develop long-range community plans, and coordinate with government agencies and developers to advance comprehensive plans and zoning objectives.

The role emphasizes report writing, stakeholder engagement, and robust project management work in a fast-paced environment. On-site location at Dubai office, with involvement in multiple planning disciplines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
Proven experience in transportation planning, urban planning, or land use planning.
Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, land development regulations, zoning requirements, and applicable government policies.
Experience reviewing and evaluating development applications, site plans, permits, and rezoning requests.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze complex data, and develop strategic recommendations.
Experience engaging with government agencies, developers, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills with ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of GIS and transportation modelling tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.
Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.
Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan and land development regulations.
Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
Conducts review of various development applications, including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezonings.
Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.
Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.
Develops long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
Recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.
