Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Urban/Transportation Planner to help shape sustainable, connected communities. You will analyze development applications, review zoning and land use plans, and collaborate with government agencies, developers and stakeholders.

The role requires strong report writing, data analysis, and project management skills, with experience in transportation planning and knowledge of GIS. Master’s degree preferred; UAE national status helpful.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, geography, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, land development regulations, zoning requirements, and government policies.
• Experience reviewing development applications, site plans, permits, and rezonings; ability to develop strategic recommendations.

Job Description

• Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
• Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.
• Identifies community problems, issues and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.
• Develops long range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
• Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
• Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
• Recommends priorities, schedules and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.

Qualifications

• UAE National with a family book
• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred)
• Proven experience in transportation planning, urban planning, or land use planning
• Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, land development regulations, zoning requirements, and applicable government policies
• Experience reviewing and evaluating development applications, site plans, permits, and rezoning requests
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze complex data, and develop strategic recommendations
• Experience engaging with government agencies, developers, consultants, and community stakeholders
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills with ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences
• Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of GIS and transportation modelling tools is advantageous
