Job summary

Allocation Assist Middle East seeks a Consultant Ophthalmologist for a Dubai-based hospital to deliver advanced eye care, perform surgeries, and manage pre- and post-operative care in a multidisciplinary setting.

The ideal candidate holds an MD or equivalent, board certification in Ophthalmology, 5+ years post-qualification experience, and fluency in Arabic with strong English for documentation. DHA licensing eligibility is required, with a commitment to high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent medical degree in ophthalmology.
• Board certification in Ophthalmology.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification ophthalmology experience.
• Fluency in Arabic for patient communication; strong English for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ocular conditions affecting vision, eye function, and long-term ocular health.
• Perform advanced ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, and retinal procedures according to subspecialty expertise.
• Manage acute and chronic eye diseases using evidence-based treatment plans and appropriate follow-up care.
• Interpret diagnostic imaging and clinical investigations such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, ocular ultrasound, and related ophthalmic tests.
• Provide pre-operative assessment, patient counseling, surgical planning, post-operative care, and recovery monitoring.
• Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, technicians, anesthetists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated patient care.
• Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, medication use, surgical expectations, and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate and compliant medical records in line with UAE healthcare regulations and facility documentation standards.
• Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, patient safety reviews, and clinical audits.
• Support the training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.
• Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and apply suitable new techniques, technologies, and clinical practices.
