Job description

Job Title: Driller
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Immediate Supervisor: Rig Manager / Tool Pusher

Job Summary:
The Driller is responsible for operating the power swivel (if applicable), Kelly, rotary table, draw works, mud circulating systems, and B.O.P. equipment. This position is also responsible for supervising the drill crew and providing leadership.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Conduct specific workover and related operations as per the customer’s well program.
2. Function and pressure test BOP’s as per program.
3. Coordinate running and testing of casing, wellhead equipment and BOP stack with Rig Superintendent and Customer Representative.
4. Direct BOP drills while using good drilling and well control practices.
5. Kill well and maintain pump strokes during kill operation as directed by the client Representative and Rig Manager.
6. Manage periodic inspection and lubrication of top drive, draw works, rotary, swivels and other associated drilling equipment.
7. Maintain and complete IADC drilling report.
8. Maintain drilling logs and records.
9. Supervise compliance with safety policies and procedures and ensure good housekeeping practices, including directing safety meetings and completion of JRAs.
10. Demonstrate knowledge of Well Control Procedures.
11. Work constructively with the Operator’s representative and with third party service companies.
12. Familiarity with the Permit to work system and its applications.
13. Report any unforeseen or unusual events to the Rig Manager or Operator’s representative as appropriate.
14. Participate in the Safety Training Observation Program (STOP).
15. Have the authority to stop any unsafe act or conditions and call out TOFS.
16. Attend all safety meetings and conduct Toolbox talks before any job begins and ensure the crew understands.
17. Attend any HSE trainings conducted by the employer/client either at the rig site or HQ.
18. Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses to the direct supervisor and assist in investigations.
19. Use personal protective equipment and other safety equipment as specified by the job.

Qualifications:

• Valid IWCF or IADC Certificate.
• Two years’ experience as an Assistant Driller.
• Relevant Certification.
• Comply with HSE policies and procedures.
• Complete all Company required training as per the Training Matrix.
• Demonstrated safety and supervisory skills as well as mechanical aptitude and technical ability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Experience as Driller on similar rigs.
• More than Two years of experience as Assistant Driller.
• High school diploma or higher.
