Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Drafting from a recognized institution.
Additional certifications or training in AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting-related software is highly desirable.
Certifications and Licenses:
While a specific certification for a draftsman may not always be required, proficiency in relevant software tools and AutoCAD certification or Revit proficiency can be a strong asset.
UAE-based Certification: Registration with the UAE Society of Engineers or other related local authorities may be beneficial.
Experience:
Minimum Experience: 2-5 years of experience as an electrical draftsman, ideally in electromechanical or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) contracting companies.
Experience working on commercial, residential, and industrial projects is a plus.
Familiarity with electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, cabling, earthing, and fire alarm systems is crucial.
Experience working with DEWA and understanding local electrical standards is a plus.
Desired Candidate Profile - Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in Drafting Software: Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or other 3D modeling software such as Navisworks. Familiarity with other design software like Dialux or ETAP may be useful.
Electrical Drawing Expertise: Ability to prepare accurate single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, panel schedules, lighting layouts, and power distribution designs.
Knowledge of Electrical Systems: Understanding of electrical systems, including lighting circuits, switchboards, transformers, generators, and other electrical components, to create precise and functional drawings.
Measurement and Quantity Takeoff: Experience in performing quantity takeoffs based on drawings, estimating material quantities, and generating accurate electrical drawings for construction.
Technical Drawing Standards: Knowledge of drafting conventions and standards, such as ISO, ANSI, and IEC.
Detail-Oriented: Attention to detail is crucial for ensuring all drawings meet the necessary specifications and standards.
Revisions and Updates: Ability to implement revisions and changes to drawings based on feedback from engineers or contractors, ensuring the most up-to-date versions are always available.
