Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Engineering Draftsman to produce accurate and high-quality technical drawings and plans for steel structures and frameworks, as well as other engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of structural design principles, drafting standards, and CAD software. This role requires collaboration with engineers, architects, and fabrication teams to ensure all drawings meet design, manufacturing, and safety specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings for structural steel components such as beams, columns, trusses, and frameworks
• Develop general arrangement (GA), fabrication, erection, and shop drawings based on engineer's designs and specifications
• Revise and update drawings based on markups, design changes, or site requirements
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, industry standards (e.g., AISC, BS, AS), and project specifications
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, and fabricators to resolve design and detailing issues
• Maintain organized records of drawing versions and revisions
• Assist in creating material take-offs, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation
• Conduct site visits as needed to gather measurements, assess existing conditions, or support installation
• Ensure drawings are completed within project timelines and quality standards
• Support the development of design libraries, templates, and drafting standards

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in Engineering Drafting, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience as a draftsman, preferably in structural or steel detailing
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Revit, or similar drafting programs
• Strong knowledge of structural steel design, connections, fabrication methods, and detailing standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, and structural calculations
• High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong communication skills to interact with engineers, project managers, and fabrication personnel
• Experience with 3D modeling and BIM is an advantage

Working Conditions:

• Primarily office-based with potential site visits
• Use of computers and drafting tools for extended periods
• May require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines
