Director, Water Quality - Atlantis Dubai

Job Summary

The Director of Water Quality oversees all maintenance activities related to aquariums, mammal enclosures, swimming pools, water parks, spas, and water features across Atlantis Dubai, including Atlantis the Palm, Aquaventure, and Atlantis The Royal. This role ensures operational compliance with OSHA standards, leads the Water Quality team, and plans for future resort facilities. Responsibilities include establishing maintenance procedures, coordinating repairs and replacements, and collaborating with the Hotel Facilities team to optimize resources and ensure high standards of maintenance and safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage treatment, distribution, and daily operations of water treatment facilities across the property.
  2. Conduct periodic testing and analysis to maintain water quality standards.
  3. Maintain documentation in compliance with industry regulations.
  4. Oversee project management, daily operations, Capex projects, and emergency repairs.
  5. Implement policies and procedures for water quality and maintenance.
  6. Evaluate options for current and new premises regarding water systems.
  7. Manage departmental budgets, costs, and financial performance.
  8. Plan for future development aligned with strategic goals.
  9. Lead change management initiatives with minimal disruption.
  10. Ensure health and safety compliance for all water-related facilities.
  11. Optimize space and resource utilization.
  12. Supervise staff and contractors, ensuring high-quality work and timely completion.
  13. Monitor team performance and implement improvements.
  14. Respond effectively to emergencies and urgent issues.
  15. Maintain a safe work environment and ensure equipment functionality.

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in aquatic maintenance and life support systems.
  • Relevant certification or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, support services, or fish husbandry.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent.
  • Membership in recognized industry institutes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
