Job Description

JOB PURPOSE :

The Director role within the REF team is to assist and support the origination and execution of Real Estate Finance transactions for the Bank’s Institutional, Corporate & Privileged Client Group and to support wider global REF team real estate transactions.

Responsibilities include providing in-depth analysis, risk assessment, financial modeling, industry trend analysis, due diligence, review of transaction documents, and monitoring.

Develop strategic relationships with banks and real estate professionals to identify REF opportunities aligned with FAB’s client and credit appetite. Collaborate closely with coverage and product teams to leverage FAB’s full product suite.

The candidate should be proactive, a team player, and capable of working independently on complex, high-value transactions.

Key Accountabilities

• Enhance the bank's capabilities in real estate finance, covering all structures, and identify opportunities for equity origination and deal placement.
• Meet clients/sponsors with senior REF team members.
• Support deal origination, structuring, and execution alongside coverage & credit teams, including working with legal counsel during documentation and managing third-party vendors for due diligence.
• Manage junior team members’ contributions to transactions.
• Review existing CRE loan portfolio to identify refinance and restructuring opportunities and ensure effective portfolio management.
• Contribute to internal reporting, MIS, and strategic initiatives within REF.

Budgets And Plans

• Assist in preparing the sub-departmental budget, monitor costs, and suggest improvements.

Internal Collaboration

• Maintain strong internal relations, collaborate with Coverage partners, and develop service level targets.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and quality service.

MIS And Reports

• Oversee the preparation of accurate reports and statements, working with Credit and Risk teams to monitor real estate exposure and ensure compliance with UAE CB guidelines.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
• 5-10 years of experience managing real estate loans in banking.
• Interest and knowledge in the Commercial Real Estate sector and FAB’s products and strategies.
• Knowledge of various real estate asset classes, including hospitality, office, retail, residential, and logistics; familiarity with back-leverage transactions is advantageous.
• Understanding of international real estate debt markets, syndicated loans, and debt capital markets outside MENA.
