Job description

The Director of Project Management will lead the Project Management Department, which serves as the DET's central PMO responsible for the portfolio of strategic programs, projects, and initiatives. The role aims to ensure these initiatives meet strategic objectives through diligent identification, planning, delivery, reporting, and handover. The Director must also mitigate project management risks related to cost, resources, time, change management, and stakeholder alignment to maximize value and return on investment.

The Director is responsible for enhancing project management capabilities across DET by overseeing knowledge transfer and training to core business and support functions. Ultimately, this role ensures that DET's strategic objectives are fulfilled through the right projects and initiatives, shaping the future of project management within DET and setting a benchmark for excellence and efficiency. It supports DET's growth aligned with the D33 agenda and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the development of DET's project planning and documentation methodology in line with leading practices.
  2. Review proposed strategic projects at conception to ensure alignment with overall strategy.
  3. Ensure project charters are detailed and conform to standards to promote effective planning.
  4. Support project managers and business owners in developing quality project plans and charters.
  5. Monitor active projects to ensure execution aligns with timelines and budgets.
  6. Assist in risk identification, mitigation, and management, providing support for remedial actions.
  7. Develop and review periodic reports on project status for leadership and external stakeholders.
  8. Contribute to the development of the Corporate Strategy & Performance Sector's strategy and improve overall performance through strategic inputs.
