Director - Procurement Excellence in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Purchasing Procurement opportunity for an experienced procurement transformation leader who can strengthen governance, operating models, digital procurement, value creation, analytics, and supplier‑led innovation across a complex group environment. This role is focused on building a future‑ready procurement function that improves compliance, increases commercial value, enhances decision‑making, and supports strategic procurement performance across multiple business units.
Role Context
The Director - Procurement Excellence is responsible for shaping how the group procurement operates, measures value, manages governance, uses technology, and supports business‑wide transformation. The role has a direct impact on cost efficiency, procurement compliance, supplier performance, executive reporting, and strategic commercial outcomes, by working closely with Finance, Legal, Audit & Compliance, Technology, and business leadership to ensure procurement practices are standardized, data‑led, transparent, and aligned with long‑term group objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the continuous improvement of the Group Procurement operating model, including governance structure, policy standards, compliance frameworks, and decision‑making processes.
- Design and implement procurement excellence initiatives that improve efficiency, consistency, process discipline, and operational performance across the organization.
- Own and enhance the group savings and value creation methodology, ensuring clear validation, tracking, and reporting in partnership with Finance.
- Drive demand management, value engineering, commercial optimisation, and supplier‑led innovation programmes that deliver measurable business value.
- Lead the procurement technology roadmap, including procurement system improvement, automation, AI adoption, ERP integration, and digital workflow optimisation.
- Establish a reliable single source of truth for procurement data, enabling stronger analytics, executive dashboards, and performance visibility.
- Develop procurement reporting standards that provide senior leaders with clear insights into savings, compliance, supplier performance, risk, and transformation progress.
- Build procurement capability through structured training, knowledge‑sharing programmes, super‑user communities, and best‑practice frameworks.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Audit & Compliance, Technology, and operating businesses to align procurement transformation priorities.
- Lead specialist teams responsible for procurement excellence, governance, digital enablement, analytics, and value creation initiatives.
- Improve procurement controls by identifying process gaps, strengthening compliance monitoring, and embedding practical governance across business units.
- Support strategic supplier management by promoting innovation, performance improvement, market intelligence, and commercial discipline.
- Influence senior executives, managing directors, vice presidents, and functional leaders on procurement transformation priorities and value delivery.
- Ensure procurement initiatives are scalable, practical, measurable, and suitable for a complex multi‑entity group operating environment.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 15 years of progressive procurement experience, including procurement excellence, transformation, governance, and value creation.
- Proven background leading large‑scale procurement transformation initiatives within complex, multi‑entity organizations.
- Strong expertise in procurement operating models, governance frameworks, procurement policies, savings methodologies, and value creation programmes.
- Practical experience with procurement technology platforms, automation, AI‑enabled procurement tools, ERP integrations, and digital procurement roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of demand management, value engineering, supplier‑led innovation, procurement analytics, and performance reporting.
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders, including C‑suite executives, vice presidents, managing directors, and functional leadership teams.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing specialist teams and driving change in matrixed business environments.
- Ability to translate procurement strategy into clear operating practices, measurable initiatives, and executive‑level reporting.
- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- MBA or advanced business qualification advantageous.
- Professional procurement certifications preferred.
- Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills preferred.
- Strong communication, stakeholder influence, analytical thinking, governance discipline, and change leadership skills.
