Job description

We are excited to open our first UK hotel outside of London, located in the vibrant city of Edinburgh. We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join us in launching our brand here. Reporting to the General Manager and with a dotted line to the VP of Finance, you will ensure compliance and regulatory standards, oversee accounts, manage financial reporting, and lead, mentor, and develop the team to foster an environment of authenticity and contribution.

The Edinburgh hotel will feature 214 rooms inspired by Georgian heritage, a main restaurant, a spacious lobby & bar, a large event space, and The Apartment—our unique meetings and events concept.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure robust financial management and internal controls.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare financial reports for the hotel, including statutory accounts.
  • Manage relationships with operations and finance teams at hotel and head office levels.
  • Oversee balance sheets, P&L, cash flow, and capital management.
  • Provide insightful management reporting and analysis.
  • Deliver high-quality, relevant management information and performance metrics.
  • Implement benchmarking, KPIs, and balanced scorecards in reporting.
  • Enhance systems for efficiency and information accuracy.
  • Train users and optimize processes to eliminate non-value adding tasks.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting aligned with strategic goals.
  • Support the General Manager and finance team in strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and motivate a high-performing finance team, planning for succession and continuous development.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of hotel finance experience, preferably as a Finance Manager or Director.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, finance, and legal compliance.
  • Qualified accountant is preferred.
  • Methodical yet flexible approach, with problem-solving skills.
