General Purpose
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales, the Director of Event Sales is accountable for the department strategic vision in leading and managing Weddings, Social Events, Incentives and Meetings business. This includes driving business development, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring operational excellence. The position is responsible for booking and prospecting event business, managing internal processes and team performance, and overseeing strategic planning and reporting. Additionally, the role acts as a key liaison in client engagement and assumes leadership responsibilities for the department
Essential Duties
- Driving strategic sales alignment across Meetings & Events to align on sales strategies and oversee event and meeting business. Ensure coordination between sales and event services for optimal performance
- Booking and Prospecting Actively secures new event business and maintains client relationships. Represents the company at industry events, workshops and exhibitions to generate leads and build brand presence
- Standards and Procedures Develops and enforces operational standards, policies, and customer service protocols. Ensures consistent use of systems and adherence to best practices
- Contract and Booking Oversight Reviews contracts and booking files to ensure accuracy and profitability. Supports quality control and strategic evaluation of business performance. Coordinate with the Revenue Management Team on group business analysis, evaluation and displacement
- Employee Management - Hiring and Retention Oversees team performance, training, and HR-related matters in collaboration with the SVP. Handles reviews, attendance, and disciplinary actions. Take responsibility for hiring and retaining top talent within the department. This involves creating opportunities for growth and development for employees, ensuring a motivated and high-performing team
- Forecasting and Planning Contributes to sales forecasting, business planning, and budget management. Helps to shape quarterly action plans and travel schedules.
- Rate Strategy Analyze and implement tactical rate strategies to maximize ADR and resort occupancy. Ensure the resort's offerings are competitively priced and attractive to potential Clients’ events
- Marketing Collaboration Collaborating with the marketing team to promote events and increase sales. This includes generating reports on sales performance and recommending improvements
- Project and Report Management Leads special projects and prepares business reviews as requested by leadership. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of sales activities.
- Meeting Leadership Participates in and leads meetings to align teams and communicate goals. Ensures follow-through on meeting outcomes and initiatives
- Assumes full leadership responsibilities. Make executive decisions to maintain continuity and drive results
- Wedding Sales Keeps up with wedding industry trends to ensure pricing and service offerings remain competitive. Books weddings in coordination with Wedding Planners, handling contracts, billing, deposits, and prepayments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management
- A minimum of 10 years related experience is required
- Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hotel sales
- Proficiency with Delphi, MS Office and hotel operating systems
- Requires strong communication, analytical and organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills to monitor team performance and guide the Event Sales Team
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans
