Job Title: Director of Engineering

Duties and Responsibilities

As Director of Engineering, you will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Engineering department, including landscape and gardening, plant and equipment, technical work, carpentry, sustainability, fire and safety systems, and a preventative maintenance program. Your goal is to provide exceptional products and services within brand operating standards.

The duties and responsibilities include:

1. Continuously improve maintenance and engineering practices to ensure the product remains in optimal condition and aligns with Six Senses wellness and sustainability standards.
2. Ensure adequate rostering and staffing, and organize external contractors as needed.
3. Promote a cost-focused approach through training and education.
4. Apply technical skills to analyze and design projects, conduct investigations, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of engineering-related products and services used in resorts.
5. Establish and meet financial targets related to revenue, profitability, and ROIC.
6. Operate the property in compliance with legal, statutory, and financial requirements, including reporting systems, contractual obligations, security, safety protocols, communication, product and service standards, host management practices, and budget controls.

Qualifications

To succeed as Director of Engineering, candidates should have the necessary qualifications, technical skills, and experience in a similar role within luxury hotels, demonstrating proven results. Requirements include:

• Some college or advanced vocational training with at least six years of experience in general building maintenance, construction, and supervisory roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with over ten years of experience in a similar hotel engineering role preferred.
• Professional certifications and licenses as required by law.
• Specialized expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields.
• Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificates, and licensure as a plumber, electrician, or carpenter may be required.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is preferred.
