GEMS Education is hiring a forward-thinking Director of Curriculum to lead curriculum development, strengthen evidence-informed teaching, align assessment with curriculum intent and support innovative learning across GEMS School of Research and Innovation.
The Director of Curriculum will provide strategic leadership for curriculum design, teaching, learning and assessment from Pre-Prep and Prep through Secondary and Sixth Form. The role will ensure that curriculum provision is ambitious, coherent, inclusive and appropriately challenging while maintaining clear progression across every phase of the school. Working closely with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Lead Practitioners and teaching staff, the Director will translate the educational vision of GEMS School of Research and Innovation into consistent classroom practice. A major focus will be evaluating the impact of teaching and learning through assessment data, student outcomes and quality assurance, then converting those findings into practical improvement priorities.
The successful candidate will be an experienced educational leader with a strong record of curriculum development, teaching improvement and assessment leadership. Applicants should demonstrate deep understanding of curriculum design, sequencing, progression and quality assurance across multiple phases or subjects. Significant experience in school leadership is required, particularly where responsibilities have included teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment or academic standards. Candidates should be able to interpret assessment data and student outcomes accurately while maintaining a strong understanding of the educational context behind those results. A proven ability to evaluate teaching quality and translate findings into effective professional development and improvement strategies is essential. The successful leader should have strong knowledge of evidence-informed pedagogy and be able to support teachers in applying research to classroom practice. Experience integrating educational technology, AI or innovative learning approaches will be particularly valuable within the GEMS School of Research and Innovation environment. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to challenge established practice constructively and lead change while maintaining staff engagement. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential for working effectively with senior leaders, Lead Practitioners, teachers and wider stakeholders. The role requires a leader who combines strategic thinking with operational discipline and can maintain focus on measurable student outcomes.
