Job summary

Wave Talent Limited partners with an organisation seeking a Director of AI to design, develop and deploy AI capabilities across the business. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, building AI systems from scratch and delivering them into production.

You will shape AI strategy at a senior level while staying close to the technology, operating in a fast-moving international environment and potentially relocating to the specified location.

We're partnered with an organisation looking for a Director of AI to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI capabilities across the business. This isn’t a role for someone who has only adopted off-the-shelf AI tools. They want a hands-on technical leader who has built AI systems from the ground up and taken them into production.

This is a chance to shape AI strategy at a senior level while staying close to the technology, and to make a real impact in a fast-moving international environment.

The Role

• Define and drive the organisation’s AI strategy, roadmap, and priorities
• Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions, from prototype through to production at scale
• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of AI/ML engineers and data scientists
• Work with executive leadership and business stakeholders to find high-value AI opportunities and turn them into working products
• Set best practices for model development, evaluation, MLOps, governance, and responsible AI
• Stay current with advances in AI and judge when to build, buy, or partner

What We’re Looking For

• Proven track record of building AI/ML systems: designing, training, fine-tuning, and deploying models in production environments
• Deep technical expertise in areas such as machine learning, deep learning, NLP, LLMs, or computer vision
• Hands-on experience with modern AI frameworks and infrastructure (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, cloud ML platforms, MLOps tooling)
• Senior leadership experience, including building and managing technical teams
• International exposure. Experience working in markets such as the US, UK, or Singapore is highly desirable
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness and enthusiasm to relocate to [Location]
