Dubai Holding is looking to hire a Director Legal reporting to the Executive Director - Legal at the Corporate Office. The role holder will be responsible to provide complex, accurate and comprehensive legal advice and support to the Dubai Holding Group commercial teams in relation to the post holder's area of legal expertise. The role holder will be accountable for managing the development of pre-dispute and active arbitration matters for Dubai Holding entities across verticals, including strategic input, management of internal / external project and dispute stakeholders (including external legal teams), drafting pleadings, oral advocacy, and other communications to advance dispute resolution processes.

This role supports the business by providing experienced mid-level support for the rapidly expanding arbitration portfolio of disputes across Dubai Holding entities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support all Dubai Holding Group commercial teams and providing complex advice in relation to the post holder's area of legal expertise, including but not limited to commercial, corporate, litigation, leisure & entertainment, development and construction, finance, hotels, healthcare, employment and real estate (both sales and leasing) transactional matters.
  • Take the lead in drafting, reviewing and negotiating of legal instruments / documents / written communications for both Dubai Holding and other entities, in relation to the post holder's area of legal expertise, including but not limited to supply and procurement contracts, sale and purchase agreements, leases, default notices, minor service agreements, minor works agreements, settlement agreements, joint venture agreements and shareholder agreements, framework agreements, facility operator and management agreements, MOUs, financial term sheets and ancillary financing/security documents, event management and performance agreements and development services agreements, employment agreements, Deeds of Settlement, due diligence, powers of attorney and legal reports.
  • Assist Dubai Holding Group commercial teams in relation to structural matters, due diligence, legal exposures and points of law for matters pertaining to in relation to the post holder's area of legal expertise.
  • Support Dubai Holding Group commercial teams in negotiations with counterparties.
  • Draft, review and updating new and existing and templates in line with Legal Department Policies & Procedures.
  • Assess legal risks and liability, provide risk assessments of existing contracts and advise on contentious matters and settlements in relation to the post holder's area of legal expertise.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required by the Dubai Holding Group commercial teams.
  • Liaise with external parties, government agencies and other competent authorities.
  • Address legal queries from internal stakeholders, providing clear guidance and solutions-based advice.

Who we are looking for:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • A strong and proven track record of delivering quality advice, contributing to the management of arbitrations and network with arbitral institutions, ideally in the UAE.

Education/ Professional Certification:

  • Qualification as a practising lawyer from any jurisdiction.
  • A law degree from a recognised university.

Technical Competencies:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of local and international legislation relevant to arbitration.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written advocacy skills including in formal pleadings.
  • Excellent problem solving, time management and document management skills essential.
