Job Description

About the job:

Kent is looking for a Data Business Manager with a strategic and execution-focused mindset to lead data governance, infrastructure readiness, and digital enablement across complex EPC/EPCm projects.

This role is critical in ensuring engineering and asset data is structured, validated, and handed over in alignment with Client standards, while also managing data integrity, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure reliability. The candidate must possess deep domain knowledge in engineering systems, data-centric execution, and compliance with Oil & Gas digital frameworks.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Define and enforce a data governance framework aligned with project and client information requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documented data standards, class libraries, and mapping definitions across engineering and operational datasets.
  • Act as the primary interface for stakeholders from engineering, IT, operations, vendors, and client teams to ensure unified data understanding and delivery compliance.
  • Oversee classification, standardization, and management of structured data for tags, assets, documents, and vendor information.
  • Implement and routinely test robust data backup and recovery strategies, including off-site backup and efficient restoration protocols.
  • Lead initiatives on data validation, cleansing, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across all systems.
  • Drive efforts for data reconciliation between source systems and client digital platforms to ensure alignment at every project phase.
  • Define network performance monitoring to ensure digital solutions are adequately supported by IT/OT infrastructure.
  • Ensure server performance, security patching, and lifecycle management (including hardware upgrades and replacements) are scheduled and executed efficiently.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on infrastructure capacity planning to support scalable digital execution.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to monitor threats, apply patches, and mitigate vulnerabilities in accordance with Client cybersecurity policies.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits of data platforms, ensuring compliance with ADNOC and global standards (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443).
  • Ensure that data workflows and integrations adhere to cybersecurity protocols, especially for IT/OT converged environments.
  • Lead the planning and execution of digital handover, ensuring readiness of asset data, metadata, and linked documents for client operations.
  • Manage data flows and system architecture documentation, ensuring completeness of deliverables for audit and client validation.
  • Ensure alignment of project data with Digital Twin, O&M systems, and APM platforms, including 1D to 8D data models.
  • Coordinate and facilitate technical workshops with Clients, Vendors, and OEMs to define data and integration strategies.
  • Supervise data analysts, engineers, and IM coordinators, reviewing deliverables for completeness and compliance.
  • Promote cross-functional alignment on digital execution plans and support change management initiatives related to digital transformation.
  • Track and report data quality KPIs, digital compliance status, and handover readiness metrics to project leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to tools, workflows, or systems based on project learnings and evolving client needs.
  • Provide input to Risk Management, Change Management, HSE, and QA/QC documentation from a data governance and digital execution perspective.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data protection, IP rights, and contractual data clauses are upheld.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education and experience:

Knowledge / Qualification / Training / Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related discipline.
  • Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior / Core Competencies:

  • 12+ years of total experience in data management roles within EPC, Owner-Operator, or Oil & Gas projects.
  • Minimum 3+ years on ADNOC/ARAMCO/Shell/TOTAL or other major Middle East projects.
  • Proven experience managing digital delivery, engineering data standards, and handover processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in engineering authoring tools, integration platforms, and Digital Twin systems.
  • Experience with SmartPlant Foundation, AVEVA NET/SDx, COMOS, Bentley, Aconex or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with data validation, cleansing, transformation, and migration.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 15926, CFIHOS, BIM, and ADNOC Digital Oilfield guidelines.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, IT/OT convergence, and secure data workflows.
  • Proficient with SQL, Excel, Power BI, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of OT technologies especially for Rotary equipment intelligence like Honeywell CPAD, Siemens, ABB etc.

Certificates (Preferred):

  • PMP or similar project management certification.
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent.
  • Cybersecurity training/certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and vendor coordination.
  • Strategic thinking with a practical, delivery-focused approach.
  • High attention to detail and strong documentation capabilities
