Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Diamond Evaluator to join our clients mining operations team in Angola. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in evaluating grading and valuing rough diamonds ensuring compliance with international standards and industry best practices. This role is key in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the diamond classification and reporting process.

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluation & Grading:

  • Examine rough diamonds using loupe microscope and other gemological tools.
  • Grade diamonds based on the 4Cs Carat Color Clarity and Cut potential.

Valuation:

  • Estimate market value of diamonds using current pricing data and knowledge of international diamond markets.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of diamond parcels and evaluation results for daily reporting.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with geologists mining engineers and security teams to ensure safe and secure handling and transport of mined stones.

Requirements
  • Degree or certification in Gemology Geology Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Professional training in diamond evaluation from institutions such as GIA HRD or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in diamond sorting and valuation.
  • Strong knowledge of the Kimberley Process and diamond industry standards.
  • High precision in grading and strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote mining environments.
  • Excellent ethical standards discretion and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and/or English.
  • Prior experience working in African mining sites is highly preferred.
