Job summary

WHERE DOES THIS ROLE FIT INTO THE BIGGER PICTURE?

The Accountant reports to the Manager – Finance within the Agility Department.

The Agility Department’s main objective is to enable Dubai Future Foundation to deliver on its ambitions and initiatives by acting as a business partner and advisor, while providing support to the business across key areas such as Finance, IT, Procurement, and other corporate functions.

ACCOUNTANT

As an Accountant with Dubai Future Foundation, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate, detailed, and compliant financial records and transactions. You will work closely with your peers and the Manager – Finance to ensure efficient, best-practice financial operations and processes that support the needs of the business.

ACCOUNTS

• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions accurately, consistently, and in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with Dubai Future Foundation’s policies and procedures.
• Support the accounts receivable process by receiving contracts, logging details into the system, issuing invoices, following up on outstanding payments, closing contracts, and preparing monthly reconciliation reports for management approval.
• Support the accounts payable process by receiving invoices, ensuring contracts and suppliers are properly registered in the system, reviewing and validating supporting documentation, confirming payments are processed and released by the due dates, closing accounts, and preparing monthly reconciliation reports for management approval.
• Prepare and validate monthly payroll files received from the People and Culture Department, ensuring accurate and fully supported files are submitted to the Manager – Finance for payment release.
• Prepare petty cash and credit card vouchers, obtain required approvals, record transactions in the system, and reconcile balances against bank statements on a monthly basis.
• Work closely with the Procurement Department to ensure contracts are in place and all required supporting documentation is complete.
• Record fixed assets and reconcile the fixed asset register with the relevant ledger accounts, ensuring depreciation is accurately calculated and recorded on a monthly basis.
• Work closely with department units to support the preparation of their annual budgets.
• Support the external audit process by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor queries, and ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and readily available.
• Support the digitization and automation of day-to-day accounting processes by leveraging system tools to reduce manual data entry, improve efficiency, and shorten reporting turnaround times.
• Support ad hoc initiatives and pilot projects led by the Finance team to modernize accounting processes and workflows, in line with Dubai Future Foundation’s future-focused mandate.

THIRD-PARTY RELATIONSHIPS

Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring open communication and regular follow-up to support smooth and timely payment operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in accounting or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. CPA or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is required.
