Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Design Manager will collaborate closely with the planning function to develop designs for the overall project site. They will coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the designs are executed in compliance with approved codes and standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Responsibilities
  • Develop and support creative processes and design concepts that align with the organization’s business objectives, particularly in Design and Master Planning.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing project briefs, scopes of work, and supporting documents for tendering and awarding design consultant contracts.
  • Participate where required in the tender evaluation and award process to support the engagement of qualified design consultants.
  • Support the Director/Associate Director in overseeing the design consultant team from onboarding and execution planning to the delivery of a fully coordinated design package for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with other design management representatives across the Programme, including infrastructure, security, overlay, and others as appropriate to provide an integrated design solution.
  • Provide day to day management and regular reporting on the progress of the design team and sub consultants.
  • Assist the overall programme on codes and standards, design strategies, and processes necessary to complete the projects.
  • Provide regular written reports on project status details.
  • Assist the Director/Associate Director to manage the allocated project or projects design so that the work is fully integrated across the client site.
  • Collaborate with all other disciplines to ensure the work is fully coordinated across the site, integrating programme requirements for a world class site development.
  • Attend and lead regular coordination meetings and special meetings as required.
  • Facilitate and assist in the technical review of all design submissions of the designs for the allocated project or projects and complete a review of related consultant submittals across the clients Programme.
  • Independently prepare non-standard reports, presentations, and correspondence, including coordinating production, scheduling graphics, editing, and reproduction.
  • Survey land and buildings and make recommendations for their future development.
  • Create detailed drawings using appropriate artistic and graphic skills and converting these into technical drawings where appropriate.
  • Apply your vision to assist in and prepare designs for a variety of built spaces and landscaped spaces where required.
  • Understand the needs of the space in the designs you will be involved in, through research and analysis considering environmental, social, economic, spatial, psychological and physical factors.
  • Manage and co-ordinate 3rd party design firms where required.
  • Lead and assist in creative sessions for project kick-off and design team meetings and workshops.
  • Manage and assist in multiple projects from concept through completion.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Architecture and Urban Design.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong creative design skills, including freehand sketching.
  • Graphic presentations in various software packages such as power point deck preparation, photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Design Suite software.
  • Extensive experience across all phases of architectural projects, from concept to completion.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, with the ability to lead and deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Passion for design and the built environment, with a keen understanding of urban design principles.
  • Solid technical and artistic skills, ensuring high-quality and functional design solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of design and documentation.
  • Proven experience in producing master plans, conceptual designs, and illustrative layouts.
Desirable:
  • Revit / Navisworks experience.
