Design Manager - Architecture + Masterplanning

Our client, a leading real estate developer, is seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager to join their Abu Dhabi office. With a diverse portfolio encompassing residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, they are committed to delivering projects of the highest quality and design excellence.

About the Role:

The Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design process for a variety of prestigious projects, including villas, retail/hospitality developments, and masterplan communities. This role requires a strong architectural background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Management: Lead and manage the design process for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to project briefs, budgets, and timelines.
2. Concept Development: Oversee the development of innovative and creative design concepts, collaborating with architects, consultants, and other stakeholders.
3. Design Coordination: Coordinate with internal and external design teams to ensure seamless integration of architectural, engineering, and interior design elements.
4. Technical Review: Review and approve design drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation, ensuring compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.
5. Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization throughout the design process.
6. Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment on design objectives and project progress.
7. Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or delays, implementing corrective actions as needed.
8. Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior design team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Architecture from a recognized university.
2. Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in architectural design and project management, with a focus on villas, retail/hospitality, and masterplan developments.
3. Proven track record of successfully managing complex design projects from concept to completion.
4. Strong understanding of local regulations, building codes, and permitting processes in Abu Dhabi.
5. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
6. Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
7. Strong leadership and team management skills.

Desired Skills:

1. Experience working with international design consultants.
2. Knowledge of sustainable design principles and LEED certification.
3. Experience in BIM and digital project delivery.
