Job description

Our Tier one Main Contracting Client has a new requirement for a well experienced Design Manager to join their team in Dubai to work on major new civil construction projects including Malls, Airports, residential / commercial / hospitality towers and villa masterplans. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Design / Technical Manager on major projects in the UAE or wider GCC. Candidates must have worked for a recognised main contractor client in the capacity of design or technical manager. This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3-6 month contract position as an outsource employed by J10 Consulting. There is an option to transfer to staff after 6 months should it suit all parties. Responsibilities • Project Technical Oversight: Manage the technical aspects of the project from design through construction, ensuring adherence to technical standards and specifications • Design Coordination: Oversee and coordinate between design teams and consultants to ensure that technical specifications align with project requirements. • Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality assurance and control processes, ensuring all work complies with industry standards and project specifications. • Technical Problem Solving: Provide timely solutions to any technical challenges or issues that arise during the project’s lifecycle. • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all engineering practices comply with local regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards in the UAE. • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with the project manager, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and technical efficiency throughout the project. • Technical Documentation: Ensure the preparation and submission of technical documents and reports, including approvals, drawings, and site assessments. • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coordinate technical teams, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment. • Responsible for preparing and reviewing technical documentation, such as project plans, blueprints, and engineering reports. In addition, Technical Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring the quality of construction work, ensuring that it meets industry standards and regulations. • Maintain, drive, supervise and implement robust technical standards, systems and processes • Manage drawings, BOQ, subcontractor agreements and identify the scope of work effectively. • Review the material requests, deployments, subcontractor certificates. • To help establish a legislative, regulatory and standards framework that allows the industry to be competitive. • Influence technology strategies and decisions with a high-level of expertise and knowledge. • Coordinate the regular testing of products to address faults, and provide evaluations in order to improve them. • Act as a key contact with stakeholders who has technical issues. • Reporting for continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture • Minimum 12-15 years overall experience. • Proficiency in Revit & BIM Software is preferred • Previous experience of working in a recognised Main Contractor. • Full life cycle delivery of major Civil Construction projects & developments is essential • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
