As a Design Engineer, you will utilize your technical knowledge and experience as an important member of a design team within a global engineering group. This group is responsible for delivering a range of world-class, innovative engineering designs and solutions for Surface Safety Products to satisfy customers. Acting under the guidance of the Lead Engineer, the Design Engineer produces solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic, or electro-mechanical system designs using advanced CAE tools where appropriate.

An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision-making, exceptional understanding of engineering principles, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a good awareness of modern manufacturing technologies and practices are crucial. The role requires effective collaboration with team members and a focus on delivery. You will focus on both internal and external customer needs and should be eager to take on new challenges, develop your skills, and expand your knowledge through various projects.

Contributing to continuous improvement processes to enhance efficiency and performance within the team, aligned with our business strategy, is vital.

Responsibilities

1. Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop customized, customer-centric designs.
2. Plan and lead small to medium-sized design projects with some supervision, as allocated by the Lead Engineer.
3. Prepare cost estimates and ensure designs are completed within budget.
4. Ensure designs are efficient and cost-effective, seeking to reuse existing designs and components where practical.
5. Prepare and check engineering documents such as drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports, and calculations in accordance with group policies.
6. Participate in sales contract reviews and internal design review meetings, considering commercial implications.
7. Attend and participate in client meetings, prioritizing customer care.
8. Ensure all deliverables meet client requirements and contractual obligations.
9. Prepare Technical Requisitions for third-party design reviews or verifications.
10. Develop and participate in test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs.
11. Implement Engineering Change procedures to minimize business disruption.
12. Investigate, resolve, and document engineering queries promptly and effectively.
13. Stay informed about industry developments to incorporate potential new concepts into designs.
