We are currently supporting a leading industrial refrigeration solutions provider in the UAE in their search for a highly skilled Design Engineer.

Position: Design Engineer (Ammonia Refrigeration)

Location: Sharjah, UAE

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop ammonia refrigeration systems for industrial applications (cold storage, food processing, chemical plants, snow parks, etc.).
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
• Perform heat load calculations and select equipment (compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves).
• Develop and review P&IDs and control schematics.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (IIAR, ASHRAE, OSHA, EPA, local regulations).
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and energy efficiency improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for design reviews and client submissions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial refrigeration, specifically with ammonia systems.
• Strong understanding of ammonia thermodynamics and system design.
• Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Familiarity with IIAR standards and other relevant codes.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Fluency in English.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or in progress.
• Experience with CO₂ or cascade refrigeration systems.
• Knowledge of PLC and automation controls related to refrigeration.
