Job summary

Emirates is seeking a Design Engineer I, CVE, to prepare and approve design data for large aeroplanes in line with regulatory requirements and Emirates procedures. The role includes on-site support for modifications, compliance checks, and collaboration with vendors and authorities.

You will work within the Engineering Technical Services department, allocated to trades such as Structures/Cabin Interiors/Electrical and Avionics, with relocation assistance offered.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent.
• At least 10 years in aerospace, with 5+ in Part 21/GCAA design org.
• Experience with Emirates fleet types preferred.
• Knowledge of CS-25, CS-26, CS-25 CFR Part 25.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, check, approve design and substantiation data for modifications and repairs.
• Provide on-site support during implementation of modifications.
• Coordinate with vendors, MROs, regulators for compliance and certification.
• Work across Structures/Cabin Interiors/Electrical and Avionics/Systems/Airworthiness streams.

Job Description:

As a Design Engineer I, CVE, you will be responsible to prepare, check, approve design and substantiation data for modifications and repairs on large aeroplanes in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements, Emirates Design Organisation Handbook, and related Procedures.

In this role you will:

• Perform design engineering activities within the terms of Emirates Design Organisation approval, as specified in the approval certificate and Design Organisation Handbook. Manage classification of changes to type certificate and repairs designed by the organisation. Perform compliance inspections and witness certification tests, as required.
• Provide on-site support during the implementation of modifications/repairs. Develop compliance checklist and update as required. Provide support and expertise to other Technical Services Engineers working on minor design changes. Provide necessary support to the Office of Airworthiness for; preparation of certification programmes, update to Design Organisation Handbook and related procedures, design data archive, design organisation contactor/subcontractor monitoring program, regulatory audits, addressing any non-compliance, quality, or compliance deficiencies.
• Work closely with outside vendors, MROs, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders within the company, to create engineering solutions that exceeds expectations.
• You will be allocated to one of the trades: Structures/Cabin Interiors/ Electrical and Avionics Systems/Airworthiness.

To be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements:

• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience in Engineering: in aerospace industry, of which at least 5 years in an EASA Part 21 or GCAA CAR 21 Design Organisation, preferably holding Major change/STC approval.
• Experience on Emirates fleet types is preferred.
• Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of EASA Part 21J and GCAA CAR 21 regulatory requirements, including CS-25, CS-26, (E)TSO, and CFR Part 25.
• Ability to analyse and synthesise technical information for implementation in cost effective ways.
• Demonstrable experience in managing complex tasks and decision making in a fast-paced environment.

Specific to Electrical and Avionics Systems:

• Degree in Aeronautical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge or training on Fundamental Avionics, RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-254 and System Safety Assessment.

Specific to Airworthiness Engineer:

• Previous experience as a DOA post-holder or deputy is desirable.
