Job Description

The Design Engineer is primarily engaged in the design, modelling, and analysis of gas engineering requirements on a project.

Required main activity:

• Design of PE - Distribution and Utilization Underground Gas Networks
• Design of transmission pipelines including stress analysis
• Design of above ground gas facilities like Pressure Reduction and Metering Stations, LPG storage Tank Farms, Gas Treatment Systems like filters, separators etc.
• Design of industrial, commercial and residential gas utilization systems
• Network planning and hydraulic analysis
• Mechanical calculations like expansion joints, sizing etc.
• Preparation of design documents like Design Basis Memorandum, Network Analysis Reports, Specifications, etc.
• Preparation of design sketches, mark ups and other instructions for CAD operators to enable preparation of Design and Shop Drawings
• Review of Design, Shop and “As Built Drawings”
• Review of engineering documents and procedures
• Review third party design for NOC issuing
• Engineering information support of other departments
• Reporting to Engineering Supervisor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs site selection, material specifications, and coordinate preparation of drawings including site layout, P&ID, PFS, permit drawings, as well as piping plans and details for pressure regulating stations, vaporizers, mixers, compressors and storage tanks etc.
• Performs engineering calculations for pipelines and mains, in accordance with International Codes and standards and specific project requirements.
• Performs engineering for procurement, including preparing material specifications, material and purchase requisitions, technical bid evaluation, review of vendor documents
• Performs engineering for construction/installation including preparing construction specifications, technical inputs to tender documents, technical bid evaluation, perform/review of engineering calculations and methodology pertaining to construction/installation.
• Provides site engineering support, as well as other inter-disciplinary technical support should the requirement arise.
• Coordinates with internal/external departments, clients, subcontractors and/or suppliers, as applicable.
• Ensures implementation of project requirements to meet the schedule, budgets and company requirements.
• Identifies new methodology of work process required for higher productivity and improvements company wide
• Contributes towards maintaining and implementing both Company and Client QHSE Management System objectives, procedures and other directives from Company or its representatives.
• Supervises and instructs CAD operators and Admin staff as required.
• Follows the environmental, safety rules, and regulations of the Company.
• Any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Knowledge of gas design codes (IGEM, ASME, NFPA and others)
• Experience and use of design and CAD software
• Gas Design Software skills like SynerGEE, GasWorks, Caesar-II, Finglow or others are preferred
