AtkinsR alis is seeking a Masterplan Design Director to join our project management team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role reports directly to the Projects Programme Director and is pivotal in shaping large-scale developments, aligning design, functionality, and business objectives.

Your responsibilities include managing the Masterplan Team, ensuring all masterplans reflect the client’s vision and adhere to regulatory standards. You will operate within a PMC framework, coordinating with stakeholders to deliver sustainable and innovative urban planning solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Define the overarching design vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulations.
2. Coordinate with architects, engineers, urban planners, authorities, landowners, and clients to integrate diverse perspectives into the masterplan.
3. Oversee and review design concepts, ensuring aesthetic, functional, and sustainable outcomes.
4. Ensure project feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery through close collaboration with designers.
5. Manage regulatory compliance relating to local and international laws, environmental policies, and urban planning standards.
6. Implement innovative and sustainable design practices, including smart city concepts.
7. Lead, mentor, and foster a collaborative team environment.
8. Assign tasks, guide team members, and monitor project timelines and quality standards.
9. Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
10. Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and manage budgets and deadlines.
11. Report regularly on project milestones, risks, and compliance issues.
12. Ensure quality control and adherence to industry best practices in design outputs.
13. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in urban planning.

Qualifications & Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, or related fields.
2. Proven experience in PMC/PMO/IDC roles within project management or engineering consultancies.
3. 15-20+ years of progressive experience in urban planning and master planning.
4. Experience managing large projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
5. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Proficiency in design software (BIM, AutoCAD, GIS, Adobe Suite, AI analytics).
7. Deep knowledge of planning regulations and standards.
8. Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
9. Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
