Job description

Job Purpose:

The Design Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping the built environment by transforming ideas into innovative, functional, and aesthetically compelling architectural designs. This job is responsible for driving early-stage concept development through to final presentation, integrating technology, sustainability, and contextual responsiveness into every stage of the design process. The Design Architect collaborates with internal stakeholders, consultants, and external partners to deliver high-impact architectural solutions that align with the group’s strategic vision and development goals.

Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities:

Conceptual Design & Innovation

• Lead the conceptual design process from initial idea generation to design presentation, incorporating innovative approaches and advanced digital design methodologies.
• Develop creative, context-sensitive architectural concepts that align with project objectives, site conditions, and regulatory requirements.
• Explore and apply AI and generative design technologies to enhance design efficiency, optimise space utilisation, and propose innovative solutions.

Digital Design & Visualization

• Produce high-quality 3D visualisations, renders, and immersive design narratives using tools such as SketchUp Studio, Rhino, V-Ray, Enscape, and Lumion.
• Build iterative and responsive parametric models using Rhino + Grasshopper, enabling design adaptability and exploration of multiple design iterations.
• Utilise AR/VR, digital twins, and visualisation platforms to enhance stakeholder engagement and communicate design intent effectively.

BIM Integration & Technical Design

• Manage and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows using Revit throughout all design phases, ensuring model accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.
• Contribute to the integration of design intent into technical documentation, working closely with technical teams and consultants.
• Ensure that design outputs are aligned with construction feasibility, materials knowledge, and industry best practices.

Data-Driven & Sustainable Design

• Incorporate data-driven insights, including environmental analysis (sun path, views, wind patterns, etc.), into design decisions to enhance building performance and sustainability.
• Promote environmentally responsible design strategies and sustainable building principles throughout the design process.
• Conduct site and context analysis to inform design strategy and ensure optimal integration with the surrounding environment.

Presentation & Stakeholder Engagement

• Prepare and present compelling design documentation, conceptual narratives, and visual presentations for internal reviews, client meetings, and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to feasibility studies and conceptual pitches, providing creative solutions that align with commercial and development goals.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, planners, and external consultants.

General Accountabilities

• Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.
• Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.

Position Requirements:

• A minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in architectural design, with a strong portfolio of high-end or international projects.
• Proven track record in leading conceptual design and visualization efforts from inception to presentation.
• Prior experience in the UAE or GCC region is essential.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognised and accredited institution.
