Job summary

A leading healthcare institution in the UAE is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide quality patient care and support during dental procedures. The ideal candidate will hold a valid license, demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a team. Candidates proficient in English and Arabic will be preferred.

Job description

The staff will be responsible for handling, patient care in the department and its associated administrative tasks. The dental assistant will also collaborate with doctors, supportive service staff, and administrative staff and ensure smooth functioning of the department. The staffs are expected to ensure quality and safe patient care as per the vision and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Providing quality patient care.
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument, trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures.
  • Assist the Dentist during treatment as per their instructions
  • Assist dental hygienists in the procedures when necessary.
  • guide the patient according to the prescribed Doctor’s notes for procedures and investigations.
  • Maintaining and Recording Patient treatments.
  • Assist the dentist in taking dental x-rays
  • Managing/ caring of dental x-ray and other equipment.
  • Giving information to patients on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs.
  • Ensure the vitals are taken and reported accurately.
  • Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.
  • Ensure that the ordered medication is administered correctly.
  • Anticipate the needs of patients who are waiting for consultation with the doctor.
  • Spot patient discomfort and take appropriate measures to alleviate their concerns.
  • Work strictly within the scope of nursing care.
  • Responsible for additional activities assigned by the Immediate supervisor in relation with the current job roles.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential: the post holder must

  • Have an appropriate license to work as a dental assistant in the relevant regulatory health authority with all the qualifications and experience these mandates.
  • Manage their own professional re-licensure.
  • Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
  • Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)

DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:

  • Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team.
  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation.
