DCEO Mechanical Chief Engineer, ARN- DCEO

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Centre Engineering Operations Team as a Mechanical Chief Engineer.

The primary responsibility of the Data Centre Mechanical Chief Engineer (CE) is to ensure that all mechanical equipment within the data centre operates at peak efficiency. This includes planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The CE acts as an expert technical resource, interacting with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT) and third-party vendors. They serve as a focal point for all facility operations within a data centre and support AWS's broader infrastructure.

The CE will also be involved with fire / life safety and electrical equipment management.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Management and leadership of the DCEO Engineering Team
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance
  • Manage onsite shift technicians, senior technicians, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Oversee operation and management of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building monitoring systems
  • Data centre capacity planning and reporting
  • Assist in designing and building new facilities
  • Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Ensure quality service delivery and meet customer demands
  • Manage assets and inventory
  • Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls as a second-level escalation point for facility issues
