DBA

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to manage and scale our mission-critical database infrastructure. With our rapid business growth, we need a skilled professional to ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of our PostgreSQL databases.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administer and optimize PostgreSQL 14+ databases.
2. Manage a multi-terabyte PostgreSQL database running on physical hardware.
3. Handle backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
4. Support and optimize complex database structures, including triggers, stored procedures, and partitioning.
5. Troubleshoot production performance issues quickly and effectively.
6. Conduct performance tuning for a high-OLTP transaction database handling 100M+ transactions per day.
7. Set up monitoring and alerts for disk space, CPU usage, and IO contention.
8. Ensure database security through role-based and fine-grained access control.
9. Work with PostgreSQL operators on Kubernetes for database management.
10. Take initiative in identifying and resolving database issues proactively.

Upcoming Projects

1. Migrate PostgreSQL 14 to PostgreSQL 16.
2. Transition on-premise PostgreSQL to AWS.
3. Optimize and migrate large historical tables (billions of rows) through partitioning and purging.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Extensive PostgreSQL administration experience (v14+).
2. Strong Linux expertise, particularly Debian, for production servers.
3. Hands-on experience with performance tuning, high-transaction OLTP databases, and replication techniques.
4. Advanced security knowledge and experience implementing access controls.
5. Experience with Kubernetes-based PostgreSQL deployments.
6. Self-motivated problem-solver with the ability to take initiative.
