Job Title

Data Engineering Manager | MAF Retail | UAE Digital Corporate Head Office

The Manager - Data Engineering is responsible for steering and building the NextGen Business Intelligence & Data Strategy, Data Virtualization, and Data Lakes Warehousing, through researching and experimenting with emerging data technologies and industry trends with a view to bringing business value through early adoption. The role holder is also responsible for developing and defining key business questions, supporting analysis, improvement and creation of key metrics and dashboards for the learning organization to provide effective solutions to be shared with internal customers at all levels of the organization, supporting in drafting strategic documents for the senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain data integration pipelines between cloud and on-premises systems.
• Work with Snowflake, Azure and GCP to ingest, transform, and manage large-scale datasets.
• Experience working in the Azure ecosystem, including Data Factory, Databricks, and Data Lake etc.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, Python scripts for ETL/ELT processes and Shell scripts for Automation.
• Implement and enforce Data warehousing best practices, ensuring Scalability and Performance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to ensure seamless data availability.
• Troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines, addressing performance and reliability issues.
• Ensure data governance, security, and compliance standards are met across systems.

Minimum Qualifications/Education:

• Strong expertise in Snowflake, Azure and GCP Platforms, On-Prem ETL tools.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Experience in data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and best practices.
• Familiarity with retail domain data structures and reporting needs.
• Hands-on experience integrating Cloud systems and on-premises systems.
• 5+ years of experience.
